Lynda Ene Cobham, Grace Jamie Pepple, Mary Akpan Udeme, Grace Nancy Egbe

Abstract

This study examined the effect of transformational change on organizational sustainability. The specific objectives were to: assess the effect of communication on organizational sustainability, determine the effect of organizational culture on organizational sustainability, examine the effect of organizational structure on organizational sustainability, and to evaluate the effect of leadership on organizational sustainability. The study adopted a qualitative research design whereby information was sourced from text books, journals, articles and internet materials. The findings revealed that communication had a significant positive effect on sustainability. It revealed that flexible, decentralized structures support sustainability better than rigid, hierarchical structures. The study concluded that transformational change significantly affected organizational sustainability, but this impact is contingent on how effectively communication, organizational culture, structure, and leadership are managed. It recommended that organizations should develop a formal change communication plan before initiating transformational change. Management should deliberately work to shift culture toward values of learning, accountability.
