Career Change, Transition and Adaption for Professionals in the Digital age in Nigeria

Vivien Voke Sota, Prof. Worlunwo Comfort Agi

Abstract

The study examined career change, transition and adaption for professionals in the digital age, with a focus on the Nigerian experience. The rapid progress of digital technology is reshaping sectors and changing employment landscape, making job change and adaption critical to professional success. In the digital age, automation, artificial intelligence, and data-driven technologies are creating new chances to replace some old occupations. As a result, professionals must embrace career transitions that require not just learning new technical abilities, but also adjusting to changing work settings and changing job market expectations. The study concentrated on the significance of career change, transition and adaption, the digital age, and why individuals switch jobs. Others include elements that influence job change, transition, and adaption. It goes on to discuss the effects for career change, transition, and adaption in Nigeria, including the implications for professional counselors, and strategies for professionals to successfully navigate this shift, such as lifelong learning, up skilling, networking, and the development of transferable skills. By using these techniques, professionals can position themselves to prosper in a dynamic and more digital world, assuring long-term career viability and personal satisfaction. The paper suggested, among other things, that professionals commit to lifelong learning by constantly upgrading their knowledge and obtaining new skills, accepting adversities as chances for progress, and being willing to move outside of their comfort zones.
