Technology Training and Its Impact on Organizational Performance (A Study of Selected Medical Laboratories in Umuahia, Abia State)
Abstract
This study investigated the impact of technology training on organizational performance in selected medical laboratories in Umuahia, Abia State. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from 64 respondents through structured questionnaires and analyzed with the Ordinary Least Squares regression method via SPSS version 23.0. The findings revealed that ICT adoption has a modest but significant effect on accounting processes (R = 0.247, R2 = 0.061, Sig. = 0.047). However, the negative coefficient (B = -0.151) suggests that challenges such as poor system integration, inadequate training, and infrastructural limitations hinder optimal outcomes. Conversely, technology training demonstrated a stronger positive effect on laboratory operations (R = 0.250, R2 = 0.063, Sig. = 0.045), with a positive coefficient (B = 0.296), confirming that structured training enhances efficiency, diagnostic accuracy, and adaptability. The study concludes that while ICT adoption improves transparency and accountability, continuous training is a more immediate driver of organizational performance. It recommends prioritizing regular training programs, strengthening ICT integration with supportive infrastructure, and establishing evaluation mechanisms to measure effectiveness. Policy and funding support are also essential to sustain digital capacity and competitiveness in medical laboratories.
