Telemetry-Driven Value Realization: Infusing Economic Evaluation Algorithms Directly into Enterprise Data Pipelines

Kabirat Motunrayo Ogundairo, Steve Senyo Ayivi-Donkor

Abstract

Enterprises have instrumented their products and operations more thoroughly than at any point in their history. Streams of telemetry flow continuously from every feature, transaction, and machine, and substantial investment has been directed at the pipelines that ingest, transform, and store this data. Yet the economic value the telemetry represents is realized slowly and partially, if at all, because the systems that compute technical signal and the people who reason about economic value remain separated by an organizational and architectural divide. Telemetry tells the enterprise what is happening; it rarely tells the enterprise what that is worth, and by the time worth is computed downstream the moment to act on it has often passed. This paper proposes Telemetry-Driven Value Realization, a framework in which economic evaluation algorithms are embedded directly into the enterprise data pipeline rather than bolted on downstream. The central move is to compute customer and operational value at or near the point of ingestion, transforming raw technical telemetry into an economic signal in real time. We formalize this with a real time customer value relation that combines technical throughput, the operational unit cost it saves, and the latency cost of delay, and we develop the pipeline architecture, the organizational structures, and the hybrid talent required to make valuation a property of the data infrastructure itself. The argument proceeds from the customer value and customer success traditions, through the analytics and pipeline literatures, to an implementation blueprint and applications in churn defense and expansion. The thesis is that value realization is an architectural choice: an enterprise that computes value where it computes signal realizes value at the speed of its telemetry, while an enterprise that defers valuation downstream realizes it at the speed of its reporting cycle, which is to say too late.
