Abstract

This study investigated decision making and employees’ performance in Niger Mills and Larfage Companies in Calabar Municipality and Akamkpa in southern senatorial district of Cross River State, Nigeria. Decision making allows employees’ inputs or given opportunities for employees’ to be fully represented in the process of decision making on employee productivity. Employees that are positively engaged are incline to make useful contributions during decision making process. The study recommended that management should adopt participative and situational decision making to motivate and encourage employees’ commitment, workers creativity, engagement and productivity. Management should deemphasize the use of autocratic decision making as this demotivates the employee productivity. Management should ensure employees are fully engaged as this will accord them the opportunity to make useful contributions towards their productivity when given the opportunity.
