Multidisciplinary Leadership Practices and the Implementation of Sustainable Quality Education Policies in Public Secondary Schools in Bayelsa State

Ebi Flora Okenema PhD

Abstract

The effective implementation of sustainable quality education policies in public secondary schools depends significantly on leadership practices that integrate collaboration, innovation, and stakeholder engagement. Traditional top-down administrative approaches often fail to address the complex challenges of teacher participation, resource constraints, and policy adherence in contemporary school settings. This study examines the role of multidisciplinary leadership practices, specifically collaborative decision-making and innovative policy implementation, in enhancing policy outcomes in Bayelsa State. Using a descriptive survey design, data were collected from 263 principals and senior teachers across the state, analyzed through mean and standard deviation to assess perceptions of leadership practices and policy effectiveness. Findings reveal that collaborative decision-making strengthens teacher ownership and accountability, while innovative practices promote adaptability, professional growth, and improved student outcomes. The study highlights the need for inclusive, participatory, and adaptive leadership strategies to bridge the gap between policy formulation and practical implementation, ensuring sustainable and high-quality education delivery.
