Analytical Survey of the Small-Scale Agro-Industrial Development in Olorunsogo Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria
Abstract
This study examines some of the activities of small-scale agro-industries in Olorunsogo Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. Data for this study were collected both from primary and secondary sources. Primary data were obtained from administration of questionnaire, group discussion and oral interview. Secondary data were collected from the existing relevant journals, textbooks and pamphlets. Other pieces of relevant information were extracted from the internet. The analysis of the data was done with the use of simple statistical tables and percentages. Statistic tools such as pie charts and bar charts were employed to describe the demographic viable of the respondents using SPSS 27.0 version. It was discovered that most of the fast- growing agricultural small-scale industrial development have facilitated job opportunities to the entire communities in the study area. It was established that the increasing small-scale agricultural entrepreneurship development has immensely reduced poverty among the households to the barest minimum. It was deduced that most of the products being produced at small-scale by the local producers contribute extensively to marketing development in the study area. Some of the small-scale agro- industries were discovered to have been facing various challenges which hindering their performance and spatial spread in terms of poor capital, poor infrastructure and inadequate power supply. It was therefore suggested that the local government through the agricultural department be positively impactful in the area of road rehabilitation to various settlements for efficiency and for a drastic reduction in the cost of transportation. The government at the State and Federal levels should also show some kinds of readiness in financial support towards the small-scale entrepreneurship development for more productivity and entrepreneurship development in the study area.
