Business Re-Engineering and Organizational Identity Alignment of Food and Beverage Manufacturing Firms in Rivers State, Nigeria
Abstract
This study examined the relationship between business re-engineering and organizational identity alignment in food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State, Nigeria. Specifically, it examined the relationship between business re-engineering and leadership identity alignment, cultural identity alignment and behavioural identity alignment. The study adopted a cross- sectional research design. The population of the study comprises sixty-three employees drawn from the twenty-one selected food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State, Nigeria and the study adopted census sampling method, considering the smallness of the population elements. Questionnaire was distributed to all sixty three employees for data collection and all sixty three returned accordingly. We used Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation Coefficients with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS version 23) for data presentation, analysis and testing of hypotheses. The results overall, indicated a strong and positive relationship between business re-engineering and organizational identity alignment in food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State, Nigeria. This explains that, leaders drive business re-engineering and when it aligns with organization’s goals, values and people then it may succeed. The study concludes that, strong alignment enhances employee commitment, job satisfaction, as employees perceive a meaningful connection between their personal values and organizational goals. Therefore, the study recommends that, Leaders’ actions and behaviours should reflect the identity and corporate image of the organization on daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis
