Accessing the Impact of SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) On the Development of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in Nigeria's Tech Sector
Abstract
This paper is on accessing the impact of SDG 8 on the Development of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in Nigeria's Tech Sector. The population of the study are SME and business owners in Lagos State. The study made use of a survey research methodology while a cluster sampling technique was used as sampling techniques, and the sample size was determined using Slovin’s Formula with a sample size of 120 was used in this study. The research instrument adopted was a questionnaire. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences 23.0 was used for analyzing the data. The findings of this study showed that SDG 8 initiatives will strengthen innovation, collaboration, and overall growth within Nigeria’s tech entrepreneurial ecosystem, SDG 8 initiatives will lead to an increase in employment opportunities within tech-based enterprises in Nigeria and the implementation of SDG 8 will improve the quality of jobs. Also, some of the key challenges limiting the effective implementation of SDG 8 in fostering entrepreneurial development include inadequate access to finance, poor infrastructure and inconsistent government policies The study recommends that government and relevant authorities should endeavour to put in place adequate infrastructures required for development of entrepreneurial ecosystems.
