However, the effectiveness of these services largely depends on students’ perception of the adequacy, accessibility, and quality of the library facilities provided. In Federal Polytechnic Bali, the library is meant to serve as a central academic support unit for students across various departments. Despite this, there are growing concerns that many students do not fully utilize library facilities and information services. Some students appear to perceive the library as inadequate due to challenges such as insufficient current textbooks, limited ICT facilities, poor internet connectivity, and overcrowded reading spaces. These challenges may negatively influence students’ satisfaction and reduce their level of engagement with library resources. Furthermore, differences in students’ digital literacy levels and awareness of available library services may also affect how they perceive the usefulness and effectiveness of the library. When students perceive library services as inefficient or difficult to access, they may resort to alternative and less reliable sources of information, which can affect their academic performance. Despite improvements in library services in many Nigerian institutions, there is still limited empirical evidence on how students in Federal Polytechnic Bali perceive library facilities and information services. It is therefore necessary to investigate students’ perception in order to identify existing gaps and provide solutions for improving library service delivery and utilization. Aim of the Study The aim of this study is to examine students’ perception of library facilities and information services in higher institutions, with a case study of Federal Polytechnic Bali. Objectives of the Study • To assess students’ perception of library facilities in Federal Polytechnic Bali. • To examine students’ perception of the quality of information services provided in the library. • To identify factors affecting students’ satisfaction with library facilities and information services. II. Reviews Aina (2017) conducted a study on the evaluation of academic library services and user satisfaction in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The study examined how students perceive library facilities, accessibility of information resources, and the quality of services provided by academic libraries. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, and data were collected using questionnaires administered to students across selected institutions in southwestern Nigeria. The findings revealed that students’ perception of library services is largely influenced by the availability of current textbooks, adequacy of seating space, internet connectivity, and responsiveness of library staff. The study further showed that many students expressed dissatisfaction with outdated materials and inadequate ICT facilities. However, students who had access to well-equipped libraries with digital services reported higher levels of satisfaction and academic engagement. The study also revealed that positive perception of library services significantly increases students’ utilization of library resources, while negative perception leads to low usage and dependence on alternative information sources.
