Sensing Capability and Entrepreneurial Performance: (A Conceptual Approach)

Nwabuatu, Emmanuel Nnajiubah. Ph.D

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between sensing capability and entrepreneurial performance, with a particular focus on market intelligence gathering, technological awareness, and environmental scanning as key components of sensing capability. The research highlights the importance of these capabilities in helping entrepreneurs stay competitive, adapt to market shifts, and capitalize on emerging opportunities. By reviewing relevant literature and empirical findings, the study concludes that sensing capability significantly enhances entrepreneurial performance by enabling entrepreneurs to make informed decisions, innovate, and respond proactively to external changes. The study also identifies several areas for further research, including sector-specific variations, the integration of new technologies like artificial intelligence and big data, and the role of cultural and environmental factors in shaping sensing capabilities. Based on the findings, recommendations are provided for entrepreneurs to invest in market intelligence systems, engage in continuous environmental scanning, and stay updated on technological trends to improve business performance and maintain competitiveness.
