Effect of Organizational Identification on Job Satisfaction: A Study of Employees at Federal Medical Centre, Ogun State, Nigeria

Abstract

Today, the psychological sense of belonging and alignment which employee feel toward their organization has been recognized as a vital factor influencing workplace attitudes, job satisfaction and behaviours of employees in the workplace where collaboration, commitment, and shared purpose are essential. This study investigated the effect of organizational identification on job satisfaction among employees of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey design, and utilized a structured questionnaire administered to a sample of 150 staff, out of which 145 responses were valid for analysis. The questionnaire, divided into demographics, organizational identification, and job satisfaction sections, applied a 5-point Likert scale for measurement. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential methods, and regression analysis. The findings revealed a statistically significant but modest positive relationship between organizational identification and job satisfaction. Explaining approximately 5.8% oof the variance in satisfaction levels. This suggest that employees who feel more connected to their organization are likely to report higher job satisfaction. The study concludes that enhancing organizational identification can contribute positively to improved workplace outcomes I is recommended ha organizations should put in place deliberate management strategies to foster identification and engagement among healthcare workers in order to enhance their job satisfaction which result o improve organizational performance
