Collaborative Intrapreneurial Skills and Effective Job Performance of Business Education Graduating Students in Rivers State Universities

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between collaborate intrapreneurial skills and effective job performance of Business Education graduating students in Rivers state universities. The study adopted correlational design. Two research questions were posed and two corresponding null hypotheses were formulated to guide the conduct of the study. The population of the study consisted of 536 final year undergraduate Business Education students of 2025/2026 academic session in Rivers State University which also formed the sample size. Two sets of self-constructed questionnaire titled Questionnaire on collaborative intrapreneurial skills” and “Questionnaire on effective job performance of Business Education graduating students” (QEJPBEGS). were used in eliciting responses from respondents for this study. The research two sets of instruments were validated by expert’s judgement, two are in Business Education and one in Measurement and Evaluation, all the inputs and corrections from the experts were used to modify the research to suit the two sets of instruments. Reliability level for the instruments was established using a test-retest method. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to analyse the two sets of data and the reliability coefficient (r) of 0.83 for collaborate intrapreneurial traits and 0.84 for Questionnaire on effective job performance of Business Education students” (QEJPBES) were established. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used for answering the research questions while Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Method at 0.05% level of significance. The findings of the study were: Emotional intelligence, Team orientation and effective job performance of Business Education graduating students in Rivers state universities a positive relationship exists. The researcher recommended amongst others that: Since a strong but significant relationship exists between emotional intelligence and effective job performance, it is recommended that Business P-ISSN 2695-186X Education students should be exposed to training programs, workshops, and mentoring sessions aimed at developing self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation to enhance their workplace effectiveness, Given the strong relationship between team orientation and effective job performance, it is recommended that Business Education programs should emphasize group projects, collaborative assignments, and peer-to-peer learning to strengthen students’ teamwork skills and prepare them for organizational demands
