Sport Sponsorship and Sport Marketing as Panacea to Sport Tourism Development in Ngor-Okpala L.G.A. Imo State
Abstract
The study set out to investigate sport sponsorship and sport marketing as panacea to sport tourism development in Ngor-Okpala LGA, Imo State, Nigeria. Two (2) research questions were formulated. The descriptive survey research design was used for the study. A self-structured questionnaire was administered to two hundred (200) respondents which comprised of athletes, sports journalists, sports organizing secretaries, assistant directors and directors. The simple random sampling technique was used. Data was collated and analyzed, using the descriptive statistics of percentage and mean to describe the findings from the study. The findings indicate that sport sponsorship and sport marketing are panacea to sport tourism development in Ngor- Okpala LGA, Imo State. The study therefore recommended that the local government authorities should explore the advantages in sport sponsorship and sport marketing for the purpose of advancing the development of sport tourism in Ngor-Okpala LGA, Imo State.
