Sport Entrepreneurship and Sport Media as Panacea to Grassroot Sport Development in Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State

Abstract

The study was embarked upon to examine Sport Entrepreneurship and Sport media as panacea to Grassroot Sport Development in Emohua LGA, Rivers State Nigeria. Two (2) research questions were formulated, while the descriptive survey research design was used for the study. A self- structured questionnaire was administered to two hundred (200) stakeholders comprising of athletes, organizing secretaries, journalists, assistant sport directors and directors. The simple random sampling technique was used while the data collected were collated and analyzed, using the descriptive statistics of percentage and mean to describe the findings of the study. The findings revealed that sport entrepreneurship and sport media are panacea to grassroot sports development in Emohua LGA, Rivers state. The study therefore recommended among others that the management of the local government should create an enabling environment for sports in order to enhance the development of Grassroot sports in the local government.
