The Role of Marketing Information Systems in Church Decision- Making

Benjamin S. Tella, Rev Dr George Renner, Rev Dr. Wole Adegbile

Abstract

Churches today serve communities that are changing quickly because of urban growth, migration, and digital communication. These changes affect how churches plan their ministries and make decisions about outreach, church planting, and the use of resources. This paper examines the role of marketing information systems in church decision-making and explains how churches can use information such as attendance records, community data, and feedback from members to guide strategic choices. Drawing on real-life references such as digital worship after the COVID-19 pandemic and community needs in developing countries, the study shows that marketing data can help churches respond more wisely to their environment. The paper also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of using such systems and presents a biblical perspective on informed decision- making. It concludes that marketing information systems, when used with prayer, wisdom, and ethical care, can support church leadership and contribute to the advancement of the Kingdom of God.
