Relationship Between Educational Resources Management and Public Secondary School Goal Attainment in Cross River State, Nigeria

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between educational resources management and public secondary school goal attainment in Cross River State, Nigeria. The specific objectives were to examine the relationship between human resource management public secondary school goal attainment in Cross River State, determine the relationship between financial resource management and public secondary school goal attainment in Cross River State. The research design adopted for this study was the descriptive survey design. The population of this study was three hundred and one (301) schools. The sample of the study comprised one hundred and sixty-nine (172) schools selected from 304 pubic secondary schools in Cross River State that were selected through stratified proportionate sampling. Simple Linear Regression Analysis was used while the ANOVA and relative coefficient output of Regression Analysis was used. The findings revealed thus: Human resource management does not significantly predict public secondary school goal attainment in Cross River State in terms of students’ academic performance, students’ acquisition of affective skills and students’ acquisition of practical skills and the overall secondary school goal attainment. Also revealed that financial resource management does not significantly predict public secondary school goal attainment in Cross River State in terms of students’ academic performance, students’ acquisition of affective skills and students’ acquisition of practical skills and the overall secondary school goal attainment. The study recommended that Ministry of Education should recruit more qualified and committed teachers and motivate them in secondary schools in the State. This will help the school system to secure the right quality of teachers who can improve the level of teaching and learning in the school system. Also, recommended that government should provide adequate physical facilities and ensure that they are properly maintained by secondary school administrators in all public secondary schools in Calabar Education Zone, as this will help to improve the level of attainment of the goals secondary school system in the State.
