Effect of Autocratic Leadership Style on Profitability of Telecommunication Companies in South West, Nigeria

Abstract

This study examined the effect of autocratic leadership style on profitability in south west, Nigeria. Correlation analysis was used to analysed the data. The findings showed that the the study revealed that there is a weak positive relationship between autocratic leadership style on profitability of Telecommunication Companies in South West, Nigeria, as indicated by the highest weighted mean score of 4.533 and r. 0.288. This implies that leaders who uses autocratic leadership style will demoralize those who follow him or her. The reason for this is that autocratic leaders constantly try to control their followers or members of their group through the power of their voice. The study concluded that autocratic leadership style had a significant impact on profitability. The study recommended that management of Telecommunication Companies in South West, Nigeria should strive to become role models to their subordinates, inspire them, and stimulate efforts to become more innovative and creative.
