Effect of Blockchain Technology on Logistics and Supply Chain Management in Nigeria
Abstract
This work empirically investigated the effect of blockchain technology on logistics and supply chain management in Nigeria. The study is vital as it portrays the extent to which blockchain technologies ensures efficiency in logistics and supply chain management in Nigeria. To determine the relationship between blockchain technology and logistics and supply chain management in Nigeria, blockchain technology was proxied using; blockchain technology flexibility and blockchain technology agility while the dependent variable was logistics and supply chain management. Two hypotheses were formulated to guide the investigation and the statistical test of parameter estimates was conducted using least squares regression model. Survey design was adopted and data for the study was obtained through e-questionnaire survey sent to the group WathsApp platform of the staff of GIG Logistics Ltd, Fortune Global Shipping and Logistics Limited and MDS Logistics Ltd that is into logistics and supply chain businesses in Nigeria. Using Least Squares Regression Model, the findings of the study indicate that blockchain technology flexibility and blockchain technology agility have positive and significant effect on logistics and supply chain management in Nigeria. Based on this, the study concludes that blockchain technology ensure efficiency in logistics and supply chain management in Nigeria. In lieu of the findings of the study, it was recommended that the managers of firms in logistics and supply chain management should be familiar with the regulatory practices and procedures of blockchain technology in order to achieve good performance of it. Also, the management of firms in logistics and supply chain management should discuss the issues of blockchain technology to their employees and other stakeholders as this will enable them to have a controlling share to such disruptive technology as blockchain technology is capable of ensuring efficiency in logistics and supply chain management in N
