Leadership Strategy and Corporate Performance in Ibom Mortgage Bank, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State

Abstract

The focus of this study was to examine the influence of leadership strategy on corporate performance in Ibom Mortgage Bank, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The study specifically examined the effects of recapitalization strategy and human resource welfare strategy on corporate performance. Cross-sectional survey research design was adopted. The population of the study was 77. This figure was made up of the top and middle managers of the bank and they made up the sample size of the study owing to its small number. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that recapitalization strategy, human resource welfare strategy have significant positive influence on the corporate performance of Ibom Mortgage Bank. Specifically, recapitalization was found to enhance profitability, human resource welfare strategy improved employee productivity. The study further established that effective leadership strategies collectively contribute to improved performance outcomes within the bank. The study concludes that leadership strategies are critical determinants of profitability, productivity, and growth in the mortgage banking sector. As recommendations, there should be continuous recapitalization to strengthen financial stability, institutionalization of employee welfare programs to enhance productivity, and expansion of branch networks and digital platforms to increase market reach.
