Sport Betting and Unemployment Reduction: A Study of Yenagoa Metropolis
Abstract
The paper examined the linkage between sport betting and unemployment alleviation in Yenagoa Metropolis. As sports betting gained popularity in Yenagoa, the labor market needs to be scrutinised in regard to its effects. This paper showed whether sport betting has reduced unemployment in Yenagoa, the perception and experiences of sports betting operation, employees and the unemployed people. To achieve its objectives, the study determined a survey research design using a structured questionnaire that was tested using chi-square and simple descriptive statistics. The results of the study revealed that job creation is positively associated with the sport betting activities in Yenagoa Metropolis.
