Abstract
This study examines the nexus between employee voice mechanisms and workplace democracy in corporate firms within Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The research investigates how participatory decision-making, employee representation, and overall voice mechanisms influence workplace democracy, organizational governance, and workplace productivity. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 193 employees across corporate firms in Bayelsa State through structured questionnaires. Simple regression analysis was employed to test three hypotheses concerning the relationships between voice mechanisms and organizational outcomes. The results reveal that participatory decision-making significantly enhances workplace democracy (? = 0.712, p < 0.001, R2 = 0.507), employee representation significantly improves organizational governance (? = 0.689, p < 0.001, R2 = 0.475), and employee voice mechanisms significantly increase workplace productivity (? = 0.698, p < 0.001, R2 = 0.487). The study concludes that robust employee voice mechanisms are essential for fostering democratic workplaces and improving organizational outcomes. Recommendations include establishing formal participation structures, creating effective representation systems, ensuring management responsiveness to employee input, and building cultures that value employee voice.
