Supply Chain Management Practices and Performance of Food and Beverages Manufacturing Companies in Anambra State, Nigeria

Abstract

The study investigates supply chain management practices and performance of food and beverages manufacturing companies in Anambra State, Nigeria. Specific objectives of the study seek to examine the relationship between supplier relationship management and marketing performance; customer relationship management and sales performance and quality of information sharing on profitability of food and beverages manufacturing companies in Anambra State. The study was anchored on transaction cost theory. Descriptive research design was adopted in this study. This study was carried out in Anambra State. Anambra State is a state in the southeastern part of Nigeria. This study makes use of primary and secondary data. The population of the study comprise 386 management staff of food and beverages manufacturing companies in Anambra State using Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi. The sample size 368. The questionnaires were the main research instrument adopted in this study. The researcher used face and content validity in this study. Cronbach’s alpha and composite reliability were adopted to test the internal consistency of the data and assess the scale reliability. The data generated was analyzed using simple percentage in analysis research Pearson Product-Moment Correlation will be used in testing the hypotheses was used in testing the hypotheses. All tests would be conducted at 0.05 level of significance. From the analysis it was revealed that supplier relationship management had a significant positive relationship with marketing performance (r = 0.866, at p=0.000<0.05). Customer relationship management had a significant positive relationship with sales performance (r = 0.869, at p<0.05) . Quality of information sharing had a significant positive relationship with profitability of food and beverages manufacturing companies in Anambra State, Nigeria (r = 0.799, p=0.000<0.05).
