Effect of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy on Secondary School Students' Shyness in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State

Ntasin, Angela Atim; Atumba, Joseph Bako; Menchak, Clifford Yubsih

Abstract

The present study investigated the effectiveness of cognitive behavioural therapy on secondary school students' shyness in the Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State, Nigeria. The researchers adopted a one-group quasi-experimental design of pre-test and post-test. The reduction in mean shyness scores from the pre-test to the post-test suggests that the intervention effectively reduced shyness among the students. The study concludes that CBT is an authentic tool for counsellors to help students solve behavioural problems like shyness.
