Qur’an, Modern Technology and Contemporary Muslim Discourse with Reference to Social Media, Its Impact and Implication

Abstract

The current developments in information technology and Internet service is a relieve on many things in the contemporary world and most people’s lives and activities are significantly influenced by it. The study is to examines the Qur’an, modern technology and Contemporary Muslim discourse with reference to social media, its impact and implication. The study reviewed some few literatures and found that moral values such as justice, patience, kindness, and cooperation taught in the Qur'an have great potential in shaping positive social behaviour in Muslim societies. Social media and the internet has made a positive contribution to strengthening religious identity and understanding of Islamic teachings. Ethical principles in Islam, such as honesty, courtesy, and responsibility, are very relevant and can be applied to the use of social media. The study recommends that Scholars should work to highlight how the Qur'an encourages reflection on the natural world, fostering a mindset that bridges faith and science. Muslims should develop critical media literacy skills, this includes the ability to discern credible sources, challenge misinformation, and participate in discussions with respect for differing opinions.
