Exploring the Role of Baskin in Enhancing Inclusion in Secondary Education
Abstract
Fostering inclusion within secondary education represents a central objective in the growth of both students with and without disabilities. Baskin, an adapted and inclusive team sport derived from basketball, is designed to ensure the active engagement of all students, regardless of their physical or cognitive conditions. This experimental study, using a randomised parallel group design, explored the impact of a 12-week Baskin programme (with two sessions per week) on key indicators such as group cohesion, self-esteem, and inclusive attitudes among secondary school students. The findings revealed that the experimental group experienced marked improvements across all measured dimensions of social integration and psychosocial well- being compared to the control group. These outcomes underscore the value of Baskin as a pedagogical tool capable of enhancing inclusive practices and supporting the holistic development of learners.
