Teaching Supported by Strategies

Mattia Caterina Maietta, Mariam Maisuradze, Maria Giovanna Tafuri

Abstract

This study analyses how culture, disabilities and special educational needs can hinder learning. It emphasises the importance for teachers to choose effective and appropriate teaching methods and techniques adapted to each pupil. Tools such as task analysis, the use of aids and reinforcement, error-free learning, modelling, and generalisation and discrimination strategies are suggested. It is crucial that these approaches are customised according to the situation, the pupil's abilities, the type of task and individual differences. Finally, the fundamental role of the emotional aspect and the teacher-pupil relationship is emphasised. Schools play a fundamental role in European development strategies. The education and training of young people are considered essential not only for the creation of active citizenship, but also for contributing to economic development based on cooperation and social cohesion. This approach has been strengthened and redefined in recent years, with an increasing emphasis on key competence for lifelong learning and adaptability in a rapidly changing world (Council of the European Union, 2018).
