Career Development and Employee Performance: An Exploratory Synthesis of the Antecedents of the Nigerian Workers

Abstract

Career development and employee performance as an exploratory study, which aims to explore the effect career development on performance. the research took particular attention of employee in the banking sector. Career development refers to the lifelong process of managing the work experience and progression of an employee. It also involves several career building stages and practices, such as self-assessment, career planning, skill development and networking. It is important to note that when these practices are articulately implemented by managers, the resultant effect would lead to enhancement of employee personal growth, job satisfaction and productive capacity. The research also undertook conceptual, theoretical and empirical exploratory analysis and reviews of previous literature on the subject matter. The reviews, revealed impactful observations which formed the basis upon which conclusion was drawn and recommendations advanced.
