Creative Approaches for Integration of Communication Technologies and Implementation of Theological Education Curriculum

Oluseyi Abiodun Ejikunle

Abstract

This paper explores creative approaches for integrating communication technologies into the implementation of theological education curricula. It established a foundational understanding of theological education, emphasising its purpose, scope, and relevance in contemporary ministry and academic contexts. The study examined the structure and implementation of theological education curricula, identifying traditional challenges and emerging needs in a rapidly changing digital landscape. Furthermore, the paper highlighted various communication technologies, including online learning platforms and multimedia tools, assessing their suitability and potential for enriching theological instruction. Creative integration approaches are discussed, emphasising technology integration planning, curriculum mapping, technology-enhanced instruction and collaborative learning as contextualised digital pedagogy that respects theological integrity while embracing creativity. Additionally, the paper addressed potential concerns from curriculum administrators, including spirituality, meaningful relationships, equity and access by learners of diverse backgrounds. Conclusively, the paper asserted that when effectively integrated, communication technologies enhance curriculum delivery and expand theological education’s access, engagement, and relevance in a globalised and technologically-driven world.
