Creative Evaluation and Qualitative Education During Economic Downturn
Abstract
This study explored the impact of creative evaluation on the quality of education during periods of economic hardship. A correlational research design was adopted. The population comprised all senior secondary school teachers in Abak, with a sample of 300 teachers selected through a proportionate stratified simple random sampling technique. Data was collected using a researcher-designed instrument titled Creative Evaluation on Qualitative Education (CEQE), which was validated by experts in measurement, evaluation, and science education. The internal consistency of the instrument was determined using the RULON method. To address the research questions, Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was employed, while the three hypotheses were tested by converting the correlation values into t-test statistics at a 5% significance level. Results revealed significant correlations between teachers’ creative evaluation practices and quality education, their evaluation skills and quality education, as well as the variability in their evaluation techniques and large class sizes in relation to qualitative education. Based on these findings, it was recommended that teachers adopt creative evaluation strategies not only to enhance student learning but also to improve the overall quality of education.
