Abstract
This study aimed to determine the strategies for tracking technical education student’s industrial works experience progress in government tertiary institutions in Rivers state. Three research questions and three null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Survey research design was adopted for the study with a total population of 74 respondents, comprising of 40 technical education lecturers from two government tertiary institutions and 34 industrial supervisors from eight industries in Rivers State. The study was a census. A 30-item questionnaire was used to gather data, which was validated. The reliability of the instrument was established using Cronbach Alpha coefficient which yielded a reliability coefficient of .83. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer research questions. In testing the hypotheses, the t-cal value was compared with the t- critical at.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that mentorship programs strategies, electronic logbook strategies, and digital portfolios strategies can be used to track students' industrial work experience progress. Based on these findings, recommendations were made for government tertiary institutions to establish mentorship programs, adopt electronic logbook strategies, and provide training for supervisors on digital portfolios.
