Abstract

This research sought to determine the relationship between attributes of gender and age and postgraduate students' willingness to continue pursuing programs within Cross River State's public universities. Three hypotheses were developed to guide the inquiry process. A population of 5,114 postgraduate students of Cross River State University and the University of Calabar were surveyed using a descriptive survey through a questionnaire developed by the researcher, which had reliability indices of .070 to .082. A sample of 383 postgraduate students were sampled using the Taro Yamane formula to use while conducting the study. The questionnaire developed by the researcher formed the main means of collecting data, while reliability indices were also .070 to .082. Inferential measures of mean and standard deviation were utilized to analyze data that had been gathered, complemented by independent t-tests and one-way, two-way, and three-way Analysis of Variance. The findings reached were that male students have differences compared to female students regarding pursuing programs, and it was also confirmed that postgraduate students' intentions are significantly impacted by gender and age after pursuing programs within Cross River State institutions of learning. The administrators of postgraduate schools within institutions of learning within Cross River State are, therefore, recommended to make changes to reform programs to have students of diverse ages within their learning environment within Cross River State.
