Information and Communication Technology, its Influence on Oral English Teaching and Learning
Abstract
The study examined Information and Communication Technology, its influence on Oral English teaching and learning. Information and communication technology has come to stay. It is used in all facets of lives including teaching and learning. It has been proved to be an essential teaching material. It makes teaching and learning interesting and easy because it provides fascinating environment that make learning worthwhile. This paper discussed aims of using Information and communication tools in teaching Oral English. Different benefits associated with the use of ICT tools in teaching Oral English were also explained in this paper. One of these numerous benefits is performance improvement. Some literature as regards to ICT tools were reviewed in this paper. Some ICT tools used in teaching Oral English like Videos, Voice over Internet Protocol tools, etc. were explained in this paper. The study concluded that Oral English is a very important subject in our secondary schools therefore it should be taught with teaching materials that will motivate the learners and sustain their interest like ICT tools.
