The Role of Firewall Techniques in Enhancing Network Threat Detection in our Business Establishments

Ezennorom Edmund Onwubiko, Nnamani MaryClaret Tochukwu, Ellam Ikenna Victor

Abstract

In this our contemporary time, where online security concerns are on the top priority for the computer users, it is of utmost importance that the type of data being let in and out of our computer systems be properly examined, so that those non useful data to the system be blocked from entering, thereby making trusted valid data protected. The Internet, like any other platform, is filled with different kind of data obtainable almost like in our real world. Usually, the discovery of firewall is among other things, to keep the unwanted data away from network while you still get your job done. The paper in affirmation recommends the use of firewalls techniques as a good measure in modeling internet insecurity threats in this our global age. However, there are different firewall filtering mechanisms, like packet filter, Proxy server, inspection, Application gateways and Circuit-level gateways. A firewall can be networked or hosted-based. Strong firewall on the contrary is not effective substitute for sensible software that recognizes the nature of what it is to handle. The firewall has its own role to play in network insecurity protection. It blocks untrusted data from an unauthenticated party and appropriately model internet insecurity threats. The new generation firewalls would definitely arrest those loopholes uncovered by the conventional firewall as the threat becomes higher. IJCSMT IJCSMT
