Abstract

Persistent challenges such as, poor record keeping, inadequate transparency in information disclosure, bid manipulation, procurement fraud, political interference, bidder collusion, contract price inflation, and weak monitoring and enforcement mechanisms continue to weaken the effectiveness of procurement processes. This study focuses on the role of e-actions systems and procurement openness in public sector, Nigeria. Specifically, this study seeks to examine the relationship between e-bid submission and procurement transparent in selected Public Sector, South-East, Nigeria. The study employs a descriptive survey design to collect primary data from a total population of 1,535 employees from which a representative sample was drawn for the study. A stratified random sampling technique was employed in the distribution of the survey using a five-point Likert scale. Pearson correlation techniques were utilized to test hypotheses and determine the strength and direction of relationships between variables. The finding shows that e- auctions significantly enhance the openness of procurement information at 5 % level of significance. This implies that wider adoption of e-auctions leads to greater transparency and accessibility in procurement practices in the public sector. The study recommends ministries department and agencies to guard against misuse of digital platforms and to ensure that transparency objectives are achieved.
