Abstract

The rapid proliferation of satellite mega-constellations networks comprising thousands of interconnected satellites operating in Low Earth Orbit has outpaced the development of both international and domestic legal frameworks. This paper examines the application of the five United Nations space treaties to modern constellation networks, analyzes the Nigerian regulatory landscape under the NASRDA Act 2010 and subsidiary instruments, identifies critical legal gaps and jurisdictional conflicts, and proposes a comprehensive path forward for Nigeria to assert its interests as both a user and potential operator of satellite constellation systems.
