The Interplay of Romantic Stress and Dietary Choices: Nutritional Impact of Relationship Conflicts in Students’ Lives
Abstract
Romantic relationships significantly shape emotional well-being and lifestyle behaviors, particularly among young adults in tertiary institutions. This study investigates the impact of romantic stress—specifically conflicts and emotional turmoil—on the dietary habits and nutritional health of students. Using a mixed-methods approach involving 350 students from Abia State College of Health Science and Management Technology, this study finds a statistically significant correlation between romantic stress and emotional eating, poor food choices, and irregular meal patterns. The findings underscore the urgent need for integrated mental health and nutritional support services in higher education institutions.
