Abstract
This study titled “Farmers-Herders Development Crises in Nasarawa-Eggon And the Quest for Food Security: 2000-2025 A.D.; A Subaltern-Historical Perspective” has been established to examine the fundamental causes and impact of the studied subject matter on human’s society with a special reference to the above named area. However, of relevance and importance herein is the need to note that the whole intellectual endeavor centres on the need to proffer solution for the well-being of humanity. Similarly, it is interesting to highlight that in the course of conducting the study both quantitative and qualitative techniques have been applied into use, oral information, published and unpublished sources were equally interacted with purely for the attainment of a balanced study and proper historical reconstruction. However, of equal relevance and importance is the need to bring into light that this study found that parts of the major causes of farmers-harders conflicts include; cattle pastoralists migrations on massive scale into the area, inadequacy of grazing reserves for drinking water and pastoralism, absolute failure of the traditional political institutions and policy makers/making bodies to rise to the responsibility ahead of them, high rate of illiteracy, selfishness interests, tribalism, nepotism, ethno-religious development crises, lack of altruism, transparency, poor governance of the relevant political authoritative values/titles, brutal killings of the conflicting parties’ members and the need for retaliation and above all the study further justifies that the evolution of modern economic and commercial ideologies of cattle rustling, banditry, kidnapping and all sorts of insurgencies are also contributing factors, undergroundly and financially funded as terrorist activities by the least patriotically minded citizens and their alliances at international level. At the tail-end, the study justifies the way forward by highlighting that amongst others; the traditional rulers, policy makers, farmers, herders and all other relevant bodies should equally rise against the responsibility a head of them, more and more comprehensive grazing reserves should be granted, illegal supply and possession of arms should be banned, awareness campaign committees should be set up for enlightenment purpose for peace, harmony, stability and progress to have a place for a proper human existence, nomadic education should be given a special attention and the last but not the least a commission of “war against immorality/decadence, drugs-abuse and other major social-vices should be established for the revival and continuation of inter-communal or group relationships.
