Analysis of Agricultural Site Suitability on A Farmland in Bosso Local Government Area, Niger State, Nigeria

Abstract

This study analyzed agricultural site suitability within a farmland in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State, Nigeria, using a multi-criteria site suitability analysis based on a Fuzzy Logic algorithm. Results show that 52.92% (2,352.90 ha) of the farmland is highly suitable, while 37.19% (1,653.63 ha) is very highly suitable. Moderate suitability covers 7.20% (320.12 ha), and low/very low suitability together account for only 2.7% (59.88 ha each). To enhance productivity and food security, infrastructure development such as reservoirs and irrigation networks is recommended, alongside land zoning and soil conservation practices. These findings highlight the potential for sustainable agricultural intensification in Bosso LGA.
