A Multimodal Analysis of Cosmetics Product Advertisement in French and English
Abstract
The contemporary advertisement avoids the use of mono- modality there by adopting series of modes to carry out its operational tasks and functions in order to attain its objectives. Therefore, a multimodal study of the advertisement has as an objective to examine the links between the linguistics elements as well as the visual element displayed in order to transmit the advertisement messages. This research work is an overview on a multimodal study of cosmetics product advertisement in French and in English. The objective is to display some studies on how one can deploy linguistics resources to communicate as well as other semiotic resources to communicate meaning to the potential customers in French and as well in English. The study makes some reviews on the multimodality multimodal analysis of advertisement before examining some works on contrastive studies. It concludes that for one to situate a work on multimodal study on cosmetics advertisement there is a need to study the work stated below: Keyword: Advertisement, Multimodal, Semiotic, Product.
