Abstract

This study conducts a systematic review of existing literature on the dual challenge of expanding energy access while transitioning to cleaner energy sources. Utilizing a qualitative research approach, secondary data were gathered from peer-reviewed articles and reports accessed through databases such as Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink. Keywords such as “energy access in developing countries, renewable energy transition, and sustainable energy systems” guided the search. Selected studies were examined based on their aims, methods, findings, and recommendations. Through content analysis and revalidation techniques, themes and patterns were identified. The review reveals significant trade-offs and synergies in balancing energy inclusion with decarbonization efforts. It also highlights policy gaps, infrastructure constraints, and financing challenges. The findings offer useful insights for future research and the development of integrated strategies to support inclusive and sustainable energy transitions globally.
