A Theological Analysis of Relational Principles and Cultural Intelligence: Implications on Theological Education

Becky Misom Kibie

Abstract

This paper examines the relationship between relational principles and cultural Intelligence (CQ) and their implications for Theological Educations. Theological Institutions remain the center of theological training, where they form students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds ministerially, skillfully, and spiritually so that they can become more competent in the pastoral ministry. Theological Education requires more than theological knowledge but also demands the capability to accommodate students and staff from different cultures. The problem this paper seeks to address is that possessing theological knowledge without deliberate relational and cultural proficiency leads to resistance, misunderstanding, misleading, and division among members in theological institutions especially in the African settings. This paper advocates that relational principles enhance CQ in theological institutions. It examines the concepts of relational leadership and Cultural Intelligent, Theological view of Relational leadership, importance of Relational principles in Leadership, the relationship between Relational Principles and Cultural Intelligent, and implications for Theological Education. This study employs the qualitative research design. The study recommends that Theological Institutions that prioritize relational principles and cultural Intelligence can better navigate the complexities of diverse student and staff groups, thereby, Integrating CQ training into her leadership development programs, encourage healthy relationships, and improves a culturally sensitive environment.
