Hybrid Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) Learning Platform for STEM Education
Abstract
The use of hybrid learning systems that merge Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) is increasingly influencing STEM education by creating immersive and interactive learning environments focused on active student participation. These technologies enable learners to better understand abstract and complex concepts through enhanced visualization, increase engagement, and provide flexible, low-risk spaces for experimentation and collaborative activities. Studies published between 2019 and 2025 report notable educational advantages of AR/VR-based learning, while also drawing attention to ongoing challenges such as effective instructional design, equitable access, and seamless curriculum integration. This paper draws on evidence from empirical studies and systematic reviews to analyze current developments, educational implications, and emerging trends in hybrid AR/VR platforms for STEM learning.
