Effects of Conflict on Political Lives of Christians and Muslims in Bauchi State, Nigeria
Abstract
The study entitled: effects of conflict on political lives of Christians and Muslims in Bauchi state, Nigeria. Conflicts has open way to religious leaders and their members to promote nepotism, in which political positions are determine by religious majority not on merit or credulity. This has resulted in producing incompetent leaders which gave birth to bad governance, impunity, looting, of public funds and corruption. Marginalization of minority tribe or religion among others in the state. The objective of the study was to identify the effects of conflict on political lives of Christians and Muslims. The research methodology was quantitative method, survey research design was adopted for the study. The population for the study was 7,751,900, the sample size for the study was 370 respondents. The instrument for the study was questionnaire. The findings of the study reveal that: Conflict has brought about terrorism through politicians as a mechanism for political gains. Conflicts has promoted nepotism among Christians and Muslims. Conflict has encouraged corruption among Christians and Muslims. The researcher recommends that: Christians and Muslims should shun conflict and embrace peace. Government should investigate deeply on those sponsoring, financing, and fuelling conflict or terrorism for political gains if found guilty let be punish according to the Law.
