Community and NGO Sponsorship as Indices for Grassroot Sport Development in Etche L.G.A Rivers State

Abstract

The study examined Community and NGO as indices for grassroot sport Development in Etche L.G.A of Rivers State. Two (2) research questions were formulated. The descriptive survey research design was used for the study. A self-structured questionnaire was administered to two hundred (200) stakeholders comprising of athletes, organizing secretaries, sports journalist and directors in Etche L.G.A of Rivers State. The simple random sampling technique was used while the data was collated and analysed, using the descriptive statistics of percentage and mean to describe the findings of the study. It was recommended among others that local government administrators should engage the services of NGOs to drive home the development of grassroot sport in Etche L.G.A of Rivers State.
