Tackling Health Misinformation and Promoting Well-Being Through the Use of Artificial Intelligence

Abstract

The rampant dissemination of health misinformation—particularly across digital and social media platforms—has arisen as an increasingly critical issue for public health, culminating in detrimental behavioral patterns, vaccine hesitancy, and widespread confusion. This paper explores the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in mitigating this predicament and promoting well-being. It examines the efficacy of AI tools, including natural language processing and machine learning algorithms, in detecting, monitoring, and counteracting misinformation in real-time. Moreover, it accentuates the importance of AI-enhanced health chatbots, digital assistants, and recommendation systems in augmenting health literacy, facilitating preventive healthcare, and enhancing mental health outcomes. The discourse further encompasses the ethical implications associated with the deployment of AI, addressing concerns related to bias, privacy, and accountability. The conclusion underscores the imperative for collaborative efforts among all stakeholders within the healthcare domain to foster the establishment of a healthier, better-informed populace. Through the intentional implementation of AI solutions, a more efficacious approach to combating health-related misinformation and advocating for informed health decisions can be achieved.
