Internet of Things (IOT): Efficient Tool for Improving Agricultural Crops Production
Abstract
For optimum and improved crops production, the environmental factors most be at its favourable state. Providing the right and favourable condition for farm crops at the right time makes crops yield high at best favorable weather conditions – soil moisture, temperature, and humidity. These environmental factors are not always constant as they vary with seasons and time and crops yield is greatly affected leading to food insecurity. Application of the right and adequate amount of water leads to the controls of these environmental factors. The process of applying water to farm land is termed irrigation technology. Irrigation techniques could not solve the issues of providing the right and adequate amount of water needed for maximum crops growth for high crops yield. With INTERNENT OF THINGS , advancement in automation technology, irrigation technological system has brought about a simpler and easier ways of conditioning environmental factors for crops farming in all aspects of FOOD production in today’s Agricultural practice. With emerging internet of things technology, real time data are made available in irrigation application techniques. Environmental information is gathered using sensors. An IoT - based irrigation system is a system which uses node ESP8266 module having Wi-Fi enabled for data analysis and control. In this research work, an IoT based Irrigation system that will water the crops with the right and adequate amount of water at the right time automatically depending on the set environmental factors to monitor the weather condition as a tool for improved farming. That is, scheduling irrigation. The aim of this study is to show and demonstrate that an IoT based automatic irrigation system can be used to provides the right water for environmental factors conditioning for farm crops. System once installed, has low maintenance cost and it provides the ability to control these parameters been monitor. These parameters can be easily realized and automatically c
