Examination of the Factors Hindering the Adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) on Effective Project Delivery of High- Rise Buildings in Selected Cities
Abstract
This study investigated the factors hindering the adoption of Building Information Modelling and its impact on project delivery in high-rise building construction within selected cities. Using data collected from construction professionals and analyzed through descriptive statistics, Relative Importance Index , the study found that although awareness of BIM is relatively high, adoption remains limited due to high software costs, inadequate training, poor ICT infrastructure, and lack of government regulation. While solutions such as subsidizing BIM tools, capacity building, and educational integration were identified as effective, the hypothesis test revealed no significant relationship between the factors hindering BIM adoption and the effectiveness of the proposed solutions. The study concludes that a coordinated approach involving government policy support, professional training, and investment in digital infrastructure is essential to achieving sustainable BIM implementation and enhancing project delivery efficiency in high-rise construction projects.
