Abstract
Sports participation is regarded as a fundamental activity for all and sundry based on the benefits attached. However, the extent to which this can be actualized is dependent upon so many factors that cannot be controlled. Some of these factors are but not limited to, finance, lack of equipment/facilities, lack of support from parents and religion which have brought about a decline in achieving high participatory level by junior secondary schools female students in sporting activities. However, while the male students are able to overcome all these hurdles and still find much love in participating in different sporting activities, it is not so for the female students and this has dampened their morale to sport participation which would have served as a platform for them to develop the leadership skills necessary for contributing to nation building. Base on the foregoing, this study set out to examine sport participation among junior secondary school female students; A path way to nation building.
