Abstract

The research work saddled to characterize infiltration rates as influenced by some soil physical properties of some arable lands in Girie LGA, Adamawa state. Three (3) arable lands were selected namely Dakri, Jera-Bakari and Jera-Bonyo. At each site one profile pit was dug where infiltration test was carried out near to each profile pit using double ring infiltrometer method. Soil samples were collected from the identified horizons and be transferred in to the well labeled polythene bags for physical analysis in the laboratory. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results revealed the soil texture was varied from sand at the top layer to loamy sand at the bottom layers at Dakri and Jera-Bonyo while loamy sand to sandy loam at Jera-Bakari was observed. Bulk density was generally moderate to high (1.6-
